Matty deserves a 5 star rating simply because it delivers on its promise in excellent fashion.
Dish after dish is expertly prepared and carefully balanced. It seems like a practised hand artistically thought about every plate, and then effortlessly whipped it up just for you.
It has an an interior that is a bit dated, but clean and obviously well maintained. The restaurant recently changed hands and it is planning to refurbish as soon as there is time and money. It is definitely not a reason not to visit, because again, it’s just not as hip as some other places, but still very comfortable and fancy.
The service is extremely capable, attentive and also has an air of old-school service in high class restaurants, mixed with a more personal approach.
We felt very well taken care of, while it is not a place we would usually go to out to eat, we had a fantastic night. It was recommended to us by several people a generation older than us, but the food felt young and inspired.
Lastly, the dessert was a true miracle. We would return just for this. I plan to go back there as soon as I can.
