Comfort Inn & Suites
2023 May 23
My wife and I came here on Victoria Day weekend visiting the Collingwood area from Windsor. It's also a short one hour drive to Owen Sound and many other nearby places. The price was one of the cheapest, but the rooms and location were definitely worth the price, in my opinion (around $163/night for us).

There was plenty of parking with more in the back if the front and side were full. The room we got was clean and spacious; the bathroom had good counter space and lighting, but my only complaints are the mirror being long enough so you watch yourself pee and having to reach for the toilet paper in front of the toilet (when they could have put it on side of countertop). The beds were soft and had a lot of bounce to them; there was a nice long table with drawers but only one chair and the TV was not in front of the beds but in the middle. The heating was pretty good, and lighting was alright but could have been better. There was a microwave and mini fridge, but I wish they weren't right next to the bed.

I would not recommend taking the elevator since it took minutes just to go up one floor (the inn only has two floors anyways). The breakfast that was provided in the morning was fairly good in my opinion, even though it was just your basic sausage/eggs/potatoes, bread/cereal/yogurt/Belgian waffles. There was sufficient seating area to eat with a nice sofa area for relaxing with coffee/drink.

The wifi was not the best, but doable even for streaming on Disney+ on the laptop. Housekeeping was not available until the third day, but was told we could have towels changed if needed. The best part of this inn is probably the location which is located in the middle of basically everything in Collingwood; from fast food restaurants like Tim Hortons to dine in like Minh's (Vietnamese) and stores like Walmart to Staples.

Overall, I would recommend staying here during your visit.
Creemore Jail

This was a short stop for us in Creemore; it was easy to find with some free residential street parking. It didn't cost anything but we only spent a few minutes there checking out the small jail house with three cells. I would recommend stopping by if you are visiting and in the neighborhood if you are interested.
Very nice place to walk/bike with easy trails (dry tarmac even after rain the day before). There was boat drop off where you can park and rental place for bikes/aquatic boats for recreational activities.

This was a huge upgrade after seeing the fairly disappointing Millennium Overlook Park nearby. I would definitely recommend coming here but would highly recommend staying on the trails as there are "dangerous" plants nearby (warning signs for giant hogweed and wild parsnip that can cause irritation/burning with contact). Having said that, they posed no threat to the average walking person but dogs may wander into them if not careful.
