Had the tempura udon and duck udon. Both were good but not great. The broth were different - duck soup more flavourful. Tempura was with good size shrimp but the batter was too thick. I was expecting the udon to have more texture and flavor but sadly not that special. The premium prices are not justified in my opinion. BTW...You need to make reservation. We saw a few parties being turned away as there were no tables available

Terrible experience! We had to wait almost 15 mins to place an order (there was only 1 other couple besides us family of 4 with 2 kids). We asked the main server a few questions, and he was so rude and genuinely looked angry. We had to ask for water and he brought 2 glasses eventhough we were a party of 4. Had to ask for more water for the kids. Isn't serving water a basic necessity for any restaurant? Food wasn't good at all, ruined my appetite. All the rolls taste the same. Not worth the money at all. Don't recommend coming here ever!

If you're up for some exotic noodles, Zen Sanuki Udon will make you forget about those other joints or your local supermarket

These velvety soft and smooth Udon are hand made in shop and pair perfectly with their delicious flavorful broth.

Located on the south side of the Markham / Scarborough border you'd miss this place even if you pass by it every day.

When you walk in it feels like you've been transported to Japan, you are greeted wuth warm smiles and respectful bows. Make sure you book ahead or come early, they fill up quickly and sell out just as fast!

Food was absolutely delicious, staff was attentive (great service) and food came quickly. However, I felt that everything is overpriced - for the price points, portions should be larger.

The “everything-on-it” udon (may not be exact name) was $29 pretax and tempura udon was $21. The spicy salmon roll is $18.50 for 6 pieces.

Definitely a good spot to visit if you’re craving quality udon but be prepared to pay more.

You wouldn’t expect a place that specializes in Udon to have such a broad selection of food choices in their menu. The udon was very smooth and had a good “bounce” texture. As for the udon broth, it was very rich and flavourful. We also ventured off and tried other things from their menu and it certainly did not disappoint.
One of our favourite appetizer is the Ton Katsu, I love how they pay attention to detail and use a mini cooling rack to put their ton katsu on, this way the bottom side will not be soggy. The texture of the pork can be described as thick and fluffy ( unlike other places where they have to slice the pork thin to avoid having the meat texture overly firm.) We also ordered the sashimi appetizer. Prior to consuming this dish, we found it pricey but decided to try it anyway - it was so good!! The fish was so fresh and melts in your mouth. You certainly get what you pay for. Another thing that you must order when you visit this restaurant are their hand rolls. It’s prepared in a way that no matter when you consume it, the seaweed is always crispy.
The service is amazing, staffs are polite and attentive. As for the ambiance - I love the neutral tones and how bright and clean it is.

Was feeling for udon and meaning to try this place. Got there right when they opened and it quickly filled up! We got a counter seat and got to watch the chefs do their thing. The udon was amazing! Chewy but bouncy and the shrimp tempura was massive! The chicken karage was so light on breading! They also make their own tofu in house so we tried the agedashi tofu and the set came with silken tofu and it was so so good. We could barely finish the tempura and unagi set but it was soooo good. We are definitely coming back to try other sets!
Ma-ta-ne :)
