The fish smelled a little off when I opened it (got takeout) but didn’t think much of it. The taste of the food itself was pretty flavourless (got a medium sushi boat). The menu says it’s $30 but somehow ended up paying $50!

Ended up getting food poisoning.

It’s sad because the people there were genuinely very nice but I can’t recommend it as a sushi restaurant.

This was a nice spot to grab some drinks and a bite. Felt like a bit of an escape from the city with a Japanese inspired atmosphere inside. Can easily spend hours getting caught in good times and conversations with friends. Would visit again to check out a bit more from their menu next time around.

My wife loves Ramen - I am not a fan but I still loved the food and the atmosphere. We are very new to Toronto and are trying every day some different restaurant but this is one we definitely will come back to!

A Delightful Sushi Haven with Exceptional Service

My boyfriend and I stumbled upon Ichiban Sushi for the first time after a creative rug-making date at Chillax Tufting Studio, and we were absolutely blown away by the entire experience.

From the moment we walked in, the warm, family-owned atmosphere was evident. The owners were incredibly kind and sweet, greeting everyone at the door and bidding farewell as they left. It's the kind of hospitality that instantly makes you feel welcome and appreciated.

To kick off our meal, we were treated to complementary fried dumplings, and they were a delightful start to our culinary journey. The miso soup that followed was rich and flavorful, setting the stage for the main event – the sushi rolls.

We decided to share three rolls: the Red Dragon Roll, Sunshine Roll, and Toronto Roll. Each roll was a masterpiece in its own right. The flavours were well-balanced, and the size of the rolls was impressive. The combination of fresh ingredients and expert preparation made each bite a true delight.

What truly set Ichiban Sushi apart was the exceptional service. The owners went above and beyond, advising us to take our time and assuring us that there was no rush to leave. This added a personal touch to our dining experience, making it more than just a meal but a memorable moment.

In conclusion, Ichiban Sushi offers not just outstanding sushi but also a warm and welcoming atmosphere, thanks to its family-owned charm. From the complementary appetizers to the impressive rolls and the heartfelt service, our visit was nothing short of exceptional. Without a doubt, we'll be returning to Ichiban Sushi for another delightful experience. 4.5/5 stars.

Tokyo Chirashi Donburi: our favourite! super good!! filling and delicious.

Futomaki Special Roll: also a favourite! very yummy!! unique flavour

Salmon Belly Sashimi: very different texture from salmon sashimi. was very delicious and super fresh!

Tuna Maki: very good :-)

Chef’s special nigiri set is a must - very well done and at a much cheaper price than other sushi places downtown.

Attentive and friendly staff as well.

Yuugi is located downtown in Baldwin Village, with a casual vibe. The interior is minimalistic with white walls and wooden acccent. A small highlight, is that their washrooms have high tech toilets similar to those found in Japan. The staff here were also all very friendly and attentive.

This is a great spot to consider if you're downtown and looking for late eats, as they're open until 2 am, or if you're just craving some traditional Japanese bar food.

The menu here is tapas style meant for sharing, and the "sushi" served here are also all lightly torched, which makes them a good start for those who wish to try sushi but are not ready for the fully raw stuff.

What was ordered:
- Yuugi Sushi
- Saba Sushi
- Wagyu Sushi
- Chicken Wings
- Saba Yakimeshi

The wings were well seasoned and crispy, and I also liked the Yuugi Sushi. The Wagyu Sushi was ok in my opinion. The flavouring was good, but the quality of the beef didn't meet my standards. I personally didn't like the saba dishes too much because I found them a bit fishy and salty. However, the other two individuals I was with really enjoyed them, so it really depends on your taste preferences.

I just wanted to leave a review because I eat at this restaurant on a weekly basis.
I’m a really big fan of sushi and this restaurant not only provides me with good tasting sushi but really amazing customer service.
They always greet me with excitement and appreciation, they also remember my order and never forget the spicy mayo🥹.
It is run by the husband and wife and they work 7 days a week.

Excelente lugar, servicio rápido y amable

Came on a Friday night at 10:30PM and was able to get a table for 4 immediately. They had a 2 for 1 draft Asahi special for $10. This was a great deal and we stayed for a couple rounds. Our server was very friendly and attentive. I was surprised it wasn't too busy on a Friday night, but hard to say because we only ordered drinks.

Would highly recommend for cheap drinks. Would like to come back to try their food.

Everything here was wonderful. The staff are welcoming and super friendly. The food was better than most sushi restaurants in the downtown core, it was really delicious, fresh, and quick. Loved dining here, will most definitely be back.

Laid back Izakaya offering classic dishes along with an ample selection of craft cocktails/sake and other drinks.

Food was delicious, prepared well and reasonably priced. The standouts for us being the yakitori tofu and scallops. We weren't too hungry so didn't order much but will definitely be back to try some other dishes like okonomiyaki and their beef Tataki.

Drinks on the other hand were a bit of a let down - both of them were on the weak side and barely tasted any alcohol. The Oolong tea highball really just tasted like watered down tea. Service was okay, we were 1 of 2 tables and it still took a while for us to order, bu Lt after that food came out quickly.

Will definitely be back to try some other dishes, maybe another cocktail but will likely be sticking to sake/beer.

整体来说做为一家烧鸟店，还不错。但很失望冲着他们家的关东煮去的，可以居然没有。还有想吃的一些也没有点到。超级大串的肌肉，等了很久而且鸡肉的口感很老，没有鲜嫩多汁，感觉烤过头了。

Encontramos el sitio por casualidad y nos sorprendió un montón. El ramen muy muy bueno (recuerda a los que probé en Japón) y los camareros muy agradables y serviciales.

Sushi contemporaneo a precios elevados. Local moderno con terraza. Personal muy atento.
